"The Misanthrope" is a 17th-century comedic play that follows the story of Alceste, a man who detests societal hypocrisy and vows to speak only the truth, but ironically falls in love with the manipulative and flirtatious Célimène. His disdain for society's falseness and his struggle with his feelings for Célimène create a comedic yet insightful critique of the manners and pretenses of Molière's society. His actions and reactions expose the absurdities of social norms, leading to both humorous and thought-provoking moments. The play ends on an ambiguous note, leaving the audience to ponder the true nature of society and individual integrity.

For the design of these three characters, I chose to leverage my silk-screening abilities, which I acquired during a textile class, to create custom-patterned textile swatches. This provided an opportunity to experiment with different fabrics and paints, enhancing the visual appeal of the characters.
